New Year celebrations in Dhaka University in a festive manner

Dhaka University celebrated Bengali New Year 1433 on Tuesday. Various student organizations and students welcomed the New Year in a festive atmosphere on the campus with various cultural events. The entire university was decked out in a melding of creativity and tradition, where traditional rural Bengali fairs, music, dance, poetry, bioscope exhibitions and Baisakhi processions created an atmosphere of joy. People of all classes and professions join this joyous atmosphere of Poila Boishakh.

Various activities started in the morning on New Year’s Day in Dhaka University. The New Year celebrations, which begin with Panta-Ilisha, ends with processions, fairs and cultural events respectively.

On the occasion of the Bengali New Year in Dhaka University, a ‘Baishakhi Procession’ took place in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts at 9:06 AM on Tuesday with the theme of ‘New Year’s Unity, Resurgence of Democracy’.

Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury participated in the procession under the leadership of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam. Vice-chancellor, proctor and teachers of the university were also present.

The procession starts from Gate No. 3 (North) of the Fine Arts Faculty and proceeds in front of Shahbagh Police Station. From there, leaving Raju Bhaskarya and TSC premises on the right side, pass through Doyel Chatwar and come in front of Bangla Academy and come back to Fine Arts Faculty and end at 10:05 AM.

A total of five main symbols or motifs are kept in this procession. These are roosters, elephants, pigeons, pigeons and horses.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Dhaka University branch leaders and activists celebrated Baisakh Baran with various events including puppet dance, nagardola, stick game, elements of rural folk culture of Bengal. The program started with the National Anthem at Dhaka University mall on Tuesday. Later the patriotic song ‘First Bangladesh Amar, Last Bangladesh’ was performed.

Then the traditional Narail stick game begins. To the beat of the drum, the people of the neighborhood immediately gathered to see the dance of one party defeating the other with sticks in hand.

Halkhatar’s house is placed next to the water fountain in the mall square. There the house is decorated with various elements including an old time hurricane. Chhatra Dal leaders sat with a table next to it.

As a part of Chhatra Dal’s organization, Nagordola was installed at Hakim Chatwar. Long queues of people can be seen riding this Nagordola since morning. Bowlgan, Sarigan were organized in the event.

The program was inaugurated at around three o’clock by the president of Dhaka University of Chhatra Dal, Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas. Anisur Rahman Khandkar Anik, vice president of Dhaka University of Chhatra Dal, moderated. In the event, resistance was called against the ongoing imperialist wars and aggression in various countries including Iran-Palestine. At the end of the song-poetry program, village sports were organized.

National Student Shakti celebrated the New Year in a festive atmosphere at the historic Battala of Dhaka University. The organization organizes fairs and cultural evenings around the New Year celebrations. Opposition Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad and convenor of Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) Nahid Islam, North Chief Coordinator of NCP Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator of NCP Naseeruddin Patwari and other leaders and workers of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti Central and Dhaka University were present in it.

On the occasion of Bengali New Year 1433, the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DACSU) organized various photo exhibitions related to the history of the July Mass Uprising at Bioscope. On Tuesday in front of Daksu Bhavan, various pictures of the July Movement were shown in the Bioscope from morning.

The presence of people can be seen in Dhaka University from morning around New Year. But the presence of people started to increase from afternoon. Visitors come with family, relatives and friends to enjoy fairs and cultural events.

A young woman named Cynthia Jahan came from Uttara to enjoy the Baisakhi fair with her friends. He was happy to see such a beautiful Boishakhi fair organized in a densely populated area of ​​Dhaka city. This young lady also said that this is the first time she has celebrated New Year in Dhaka with her friends.

At Hakim Chatwar of Dhaka University, I spoke with a rickshaw driver named Abdul Jalil, who came to see the fair at Dhaka University with his wife and children. He said that his six-year-old daughter Raisa came to the fair with everyone to keep Islam serious.
