These appointments follow a period of vacancy triggered by the resignation of the previous chairman and three commissioners on March 3. In response to the leadership vacuum, the government established a search committee, led by the Cabinet Secretary, to facilitate the selection process.

Over the course of six meetings, the search committee evaluated the credentials and backgrounds of potential candidates before finalizing the nomination of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman as Chairman, alongside Jahangir Alam Khan and Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan as commissioners.
