NCP Coordinator Threatens to Topple Government Over Reform Delays and Ministerial Inaction

National Citizens Party (NCP) chief coordinator Mohammad Nasiruddin Patwary has issued a stern ultimatum to the current administration, vowing to topple the government if necessary reforms are not implemented and justice for the fallen is not ensured. Addressing a rally in Naogaon’s Porsha upazila on Sunday, Patwary declared that his organization would not hesitate to mobilize against the government if it failed to meet public demands, including those related to the prosecution of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The event, held at Saraigachi intersection, was part of a month-long nationwide campaign titled “July Awakening to Build the Nation,” which began on July 6. The movement spans 100 sub-districts and municipalities across 64 districts, focusing on demands for a referendum, job creation, and strengthened border security.

During his address, Patwary directed sharp criticism toward current government officials, warning them against arrogance. He stated that the NCP is exercising restraint in its efforts to build a civilized nation, but warned that his group is prepared to forcefully remove those who continue to engage in what he described as corrupt or subservient practices. He further labeled certain political influences within the country as “foreign ghosts,” vowing to purge such elements.

Patwary also condemned the government’s handling of the recent floods in the Chittagong and Sylhet regions. He lamented the loss of 39 lives, accusing the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief of gross negligence. He specifically questioned the absence of the minister in flood-affected areas, noting that the official appeared only during election periods.

The NCP leader also addressed regional geopolitics, issuing a sharp rebuke to India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He emphasized that the people of Bangladesh—a population comprised of diverse religious backgrounds—would continue to fight for sovereignty. He asserted that Bangladesh would remain independent and would never yield to external control or become subservient to foreign interests.

The rally, presided over by Naogaon district committee convener Mahfuzar Rahman Chowdhury, featured several other speakers, including committee joint conveners Monira Sharmin and S.M. Saif Mostafiz, and National Youth Force General Secretary Engineer Farhad Sohel.
