A 104-kilogram goat named “Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah” has become an unlikely local celebrity in the Karimganj sub-district of Kishoreganj, drawing daily crowds to the residence of owner Hadis Mia. The animal, known for its regal demeanor and particular habits, has been under Mia’s care for two years, transforming from a modest purchase into a prized specimen of the Jamunapari breed.
Hadis Mia, who acquired the goat as a two-month-old kid for 21,000 taka, attributes the animal’s remarkable growth to a meticulously curated diet of corn leaves, jackfruit leaves, banyan foliage, and various seasonal greens supplemented by high-quality grains. The animal’s care regimen extends beyond nutrition; Mia treats the goat with frequent shampoo baths, followed by the application of jasmine-scented coconut oil to maintain its coat. At night, the goat sleeps on a specialized raised platform outfitted with blankets.

The goat’s impressive development was recently recognized at a livestock exhibition organized by the Department of Livestock Services in Karimganj, where it earned the title of best castrated goat. For his efforts, Mia received both a cash prize and an official commendation.
Local social activist Mostafizur Rahman noted that the community has watched the goat flourish under Mia’s dedicated, parent-like supervision. Describing the animal as exceptionally calm and visually striking, Rahman expressed hope that the owner would receive a fair market value for his investment. As the Eid-ul-Adha festival approaches, Mia has signaled his intent to sell the goat, with his asking price set at over 100,000 taka.
