Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi Appointed Director General of Islamic Foundation

Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi, a prominent Pesh Imam of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, officially assumed office as the Director General of the Islamic Foundation on Tuesday. He replaces the outgoing Director General, A. Salam Khan, following his appointment through a Ministry of Public Administration notification issued on May 21.
A distinguished scholar and Shariah expert, Mufti Baqi has served at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque since 1996. Beyond his religious leadership, he currently serves as the Secretary General of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh and as the Chairman of the Shariah Board at Standard Bank PLC. His extensive professional background includes roles as an expert member on several financial institution boards and as a Shaikhul Hadith at various Qawmi madrasas across the country.
During his inaugural meeting with staff at the organization’s Agargaon headquarters, the newly appointed Director General expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the appointment. Outlining his vision, he emphasized that the current administration intends to transform the Islamic Foundation into an efficient, modern, and service-oriented institution. He stressed that the foundation should be steered by religious scholars and researchers rather than political agendas, focusing instead on public welfare.
Mufti Baqi underscored the need for enhanced transparency, accountability, and discipline within the foundation. He called upon all employees to foster a clean, professional, and ethical working environment that adheres strictly to government regulations. By prioritizing collective effort and new strategic initiatives, he expressed a firm commitment to restoring public trust in the organization.
The induction ceremony included remarks from the outgoing Director General, A. Salam Khan, alongside several high-ranking project directors and department heads, including S.M. Tariqul Islam, Hazera Khatun, Md. Abdul Hamid Khan, Md. Anisuzzaman Sikdar, Waliur Rahman Khan, and Shah Mohammad Nazrul Islam. The event, moderated by Director of Coordination Md. Mohiuddin, was attended by various directors and staff members from across the foundation.
