The Kishoreganj district unit of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has expelled Mokarram Hossain, the convener of the Mithamain upazila unit, following allegations of his involvement in the murder of local BNP leader Jahidul Alam Jahangir.

The decision was formalized in a press release issued Sunday by the district JCD, citing grave breaches of organizational discipline. According to Rafiul Islam, general secretary of the Kishoreganj district JCD, the expulsion was deemed necessary to protect the integrity and reputation of the organization. Officials confirmed that while no formal internal investigation committee has been established, the move was prompted by credible reports linking Hossain to the crime.

The murder occurred on the night of July 15, when Jahidul Alam, president of the BNP in Mithamain upazila, was ambushed by assailants armed with machetes near his residence. Despite being rushed to the Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Local residents apprehended a suspect, 24-year-old Md. Helal, at the scene immediately following the attack. According to district JCD officials, Helal provided testimony during initial questioning that implicated Hossain. Furthermore, community members alleged that three other suspects arrested by police had sought refuge in the homes of Hossain’s relatives for three days prior to the killing. Hossain has since gone into hiding and remains unreachable; multiple attempts to contact him via his mobile phone have been unsuccessful.
