The slum fire in Pallabir Kalshi area of the capital has been brought under control. The fire was brought under control after about two hours of efforts of 15 units of the fire service. However, no one was reported to be injured in the fire.
Talha Bin Jasim, Officer-in-Charge of Fire Service Media Cell, informed that the fire was brought under control at 9:35 PM on Monday. Earlier, the fire broke out at 7:23 pm.

After the fire came under control, the director of the training, planning and development department of the fire service, Lt. Colonel MA Azad Anwar briefed the reporters about the situation. He said that due to the fire, the houses of the slum collapsed at the beginning. There were more flammable materials like plastic and paper; And because of the wind, the fire spread quickly.
This fire service official also said that there was scarcity of water around the slum. As a result, it took a little longer to reach the main fire. It will take time to completely extinguish the fire. However, no casualties have been reported so far. They didn’t even get the missing news.

Meanwhile, at around 10 o’clock at night, it was seen that the members of the fire service are working to extinguish the fire completely. There is a lot of smoke. People who have lost their homes are sitting next to the slums on the road from ECB square to Kalshimukhi. After the fire, he is sitting on the street with as much furniture as he can.
According to the local residents, the cause of the fire was a quarrel between a local youth and a shopkeeper of the slum on Monday afternoon. At one stage the youth threatened to set fire to the slum. One and a half to two hours after this incident, the slum caught fire. After the fire, the residents beat up the youth and handed him over to the police.
Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Basir told Prothom Alo that a young man has been detained for questioning. He became slightly ill after being beaten by the excited crowd. He is undergoing primary treatment. Then he will be interrogated.
State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque came to the spot around 10 pm. There he spoke to the affected people and assured action if anyone was involved in the incident.
Aminul Haque said in response to the question of journalists whether there is a threat of sabotage or not, the suspicion is not unreasonable. The matter is being investigated. He has already spoken to the local police officials about the matter.
According to the fire service, the slum had about 1,000 to 1,200 houses and shops. Approximately three and a half thousand people lived in this slum. All the houses were burnt to ashes in the fire. Most of the shops were selling merchandise.
One such shopkeeper, Lal Mia, was sitting on the side of the road and crying. He is surrounded by two men comforting him. When he approached and asked the reason, he burst into tears.
After crying for a while, he managed himself and said to Prothom Alo, “It’s all over for me.” The store had goods worth about 50 lakh rupees. The goods were supposed to be sold tomorrow, but before that everything was destroyed by fire. Now I don’t know what to do.’
Slum resident Amir Uddin was crying on the road. He is also engaged in the business of bridging. He lived with his family in two rooms in the slum. He said, “I couldn’t find anything in the house.” I came out with some kind of wife and children. I had 37 thousand cash in my home business. This money is supposed to be given to the moneylender in the afternoon on the day of Eid; But the money is all burnt.
