A Dhaka court ordered the imprisonment of Ahmed Jobayer, the former managing director of the private television station Somoy TV, following charges of fraud and forgery. The decision was handed down on Thursday by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain.

Three co-accused in the case—Ahmed Rafid Quader, Sheikh Mahmud Yasmin, and Sunny Chowdhury—were granted bail by the same court. According to state prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki, the legal proceedings stem from a case filed at the Kalabagan police station by complainant Mobarak Hossain.

The court had originally issued a summons for the six named defendants to appear on Wednesday. Following their failure to comply, the magistrate issued arrest warrants for the suspects. While four of the accused, including Jobayer, surrendered to the court on Thursday, the remaining two defendants remain at large. The court has maintained the standing arrest warrants for those who failed to appear.
