Motorcyclist Nazim Uddin stood in line at eight in the morning to get oil from this filling station. He did not get oil till 11 o’clock. There were hundreds of motorcycles waiting for oil in front of him. Nazim Uddin told Prothom Alo that he does ride share (transportation of passengers on rent) on motorcycles. He thought that if the price of oil increases, the line may decrease; But when he came to the filling station, the line did not decrease, on the contrary, it increased.

Nazim Uddin said, “We used to drive the family by sharing the ride, now a day ends when we take oil.” After that, the oil that I get does not care anymore. It becomes very difficult for us to move.

At 1 o’clock at Karim and Sons filling station in Motijheel, there was a long queue for oil. The drivers are taking oil by taking cereal. The private car driver stood in line for oil at this filling station. Shah Jahan He said that he has been waiting for oil since six in the morning. Didn’t get oil even at one o’clock. This driver said, ‘After the price increase, many people said that the line might decrease, we were also expecting the same. But I don’t see any sign of this line decreasing.

At two o’clock in the afternoon, the Ramna filling station located at Matsya Bhavan intersection of the capital is seen, the queue for oil is almost as before. 387 motorcycles and 305 private cars are waiting for oil.

Since the start of the war between the United States and Israel with Iran on February 28, long lines of motorcycles and private cars have started for oil at filling stations in Bangladesh. The government has not increased the price of oil in Bangladesh even though the price of fuel oil has increased several times in the world market. After a month and a half on April 18, the government increased the price of all types of fuel oil.

Babul Hossain, a motorcycle ride-share driver, commented that the increase in oil prices came as a ‘slap on the neck’. Meanwhile, this Meghna model filling station does not give fuel without ‘Fuel Pass’. Mir Azim, the official of the filling station, said that the government has given instructions not to give fuel to motorcycles without a fuel pass. They have started following that from today.
