Police arrived at the scene after being informed of the incident and rescued the injured doctor. He received initial treatment at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital that night. However, his condition deteriorated, leading to his admission to a private hospital in the city the following morning. Preparations are underway to transfer him to Dhaka for advanced medical care.

Authorities arrested Al Amin on Friday night in connection with the assault. On Saturday morning, Shariatpur-1 Member of Parliament Sayed Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Tahsina Begum, and Police Superintendent Rownak Jahan visited the hospital.

Dr. Mitu Akhter, the Resident Medical Officer at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, explained that the heart patient had initially received primary treatment, and relatives were advised to transfer him to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Dhaka. However, his family did not take him to Dhaka, and treatment continued at Sadar Hospital until his eventual death. Dr. Akhter confirmed that relatives then vandalized various hospital rooms and assaulted the duty doctor, who suffered a severe head injury. The Health Directorate and Ministry of Health have been informed, and legal action will be pursued.
