Clashes took place between traders and hawkers over the eviction of hawkers in the GPO Link Road area of ​​the south gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque in the capital. Some people were injured on both sides.

This clash took place in Swarna Goli area of ​​South Gate of Baitul Mukarram around 10 am today Saturday.

According to the sources of Paltan police station, on April 9, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted an eviction operation on the sidewalks on both sides of the GPO Link Road at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram Market. The shops there were demolished with bulldozers. A day after the raid, the hawkers tried to set up shop there again on Friday when the gold traders blocked the tension.

At around 10 am on Saturday again, the hawkers stopped the hawkers when they started removing equipment including wooden tables from the makeshift shops on the pavement under the initiative of Baitul Mukarram Gold Traders Association. At one point, there was a back and forth chase and stone pelting between the two sides. Several people were injured on both sides. Later, law enforcement officials brought the situation under control.
