The Ministry of Home Affairs in Bangladesh has formally requested the deployment of military forces to maintain public order amid concerns over potential unrest surrounding the anniversary of the Awami League, an organization whose political activities are currently prohibited.

In an official correspondence issued Monday by the ministry’s Political Branch-2 to the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, authorities cited intelligence regarding planned unauthorized processions and public demonstrations. The document warns that these activities, organized by groups currently under an official ban, pose a significant risk of sabotage and civil disorder.

Government officials emphasized that such actions threaten to destabilize the national security landscape. The ministry expressed grave concern that allowing these gatherings to proceed could lead to widespread violence and substantial damage to both public and private property across various districts.
