Sourav Ganguly to host Bigg Boss Bangla as show returns after decade-long hiatus

After a decade-long hiatus, the popular reality television franchise “Bigg Boss Bangla” is set to return to the screen. Former national cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has been tapped to host the upcoming season, bringing his charismatic presence to the show following his successful run on “Dadagiri.”

The new season, centered around the theme “Durga Joy Sohoj Noy” (Conquering the fort is not easy), is scheduled to premiere on August 30 across Star Jalsha and JioHotstar. The tagline serves as a reminder to contestants that navigating the challenges within the Bigg Boss house will be an arduous task.

Regarding his new role, Ganguly acknowledged the challenge, stating that nothing within the house comes easily. He expressed his anticipation in watching how contestants navigate the twists and turns of the game and guiding the Bengali audience through that journey.

While official casting remains unconfirmed, speculation regarding the contestant lineup has already begun. Reports suggest that invitations have been extended to several notable figures, including Pia Sengupta, Jeetu Kamal, Anindya Chatterjee, Sayak Chakraborty, Tithi Basu, Ushasi Chakraborty, Yash Dasgupta, and Nusrat Jahan.

“Bigg Boss Bangla” originally debuted in 2013 on ETV Bangla, hosted by Mithun Chakraborty, with singer Aneek Dhar emerging as the winner. The second season followed in 2016 on Colors Bangla, hosted by actor Jeet, which was won by actor Joyjit Banerjee.

The excitement surrounding the show extends to Ganguly’s family. His wife, Dona Ganguly, expressed her enthusiasm for the new format, noting that she is eager to see how the show is constructed. She added that their daughter, Sana, has even been providing her father with tips for the show, and she remains confident that the program will achieve significant popularity among viewers.
