Government Invites Bids for Producing Two Feature Films

Bangladesh’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has initiated a project to produce two short films aimed at showcasing the nation’s rich history, heritage, and culture through cinematic storytelling. The Department of Films and Publications (DFP), operating under the ministry, has invited experienced consultants and production houses to submit applications and screenplays for the government-funded initiative.

The DFP confirmed these details through a public notice, specifying that interested organizations must possess at least five years of professional experience in film production. Submissions, comprising application forms and scripts, are required to be delivered in sealed envelopes to the office of the Director General of the Department of Films and Publications by 12:00 PM on May 9. The department emphasized the need for modern technical standards and creative synergy in the film’s production.

One of the planned short films will delve into the popular Bengali folk tale of ‘Gazi Kalu O Champabati’. This film is slated to have a runtime of 25 to 30 minutes, include English subtitles, and has been allocated a budget of 20 lakh Taka for its production.

The second short film will focus on themes of Islamic culture, tolerance, and solidarity, conveying these messages through a compelling narrative. This particular project is budgeted at 10 lakh Taka and is expected to have a shorter duration, ranging from 12 to 15 minutes.

Selected production houses will be responsible for the entire filmmaking process, encompassing scriptwriting, casting, shooting, editing, dubbing, and color grading, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality final product.
