Dev is a popular Tollywood actor from Upper Bengal. He has another identity. Dev is a three-time elected member of the Lok Sabha. In 2014, the actor entered the political arena for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and was elected as a Member of Parliament for three consecutive terms. 

Along with politics, he has single-handedly handled the busyness of the silver screen. But the star recently came under fire after his political party Trinamool Congress lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the assembly elections. 

According to a report by Indian media daily Sangam Pratidhi, a video has recently gone viral on social media where some people can be seen chanting ‘Chor Chor’ slogans around Dev. 

Although so far, Dev was known for ‘courtesy politics’. He has also been praised for never using harsh language against opponents and for his modest behavior on the political stage. He sought votes by highlighting the development work of Trinamool in all the Lok Sabha or Assembly elections. But after the defeat of the Trinamool, the political climate of the state changed completely.

Some are commenting on Dev, ‘Please, you should stay out of politics now.’ Some are urging him to leave everything and be active only on the screen. 

However, according to analysts, this anger of the public is mainly towards the ‘politician Dev’ and not towards the ‘actor Dev’. Because as a person and an actor, he is still loved by the audience.
