Newly sworn-in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay, the celebrated actor also known as Chandrashekhar Joseph Vijay, is making immediate waves with a series of decisive actions, notably by granting special permission for an early morning screening of the highly anticipated film ‘Karuppu’.

Breaking from traditional cinema schedules in the state, Chief Minister Joseph Vijay authorized the screening of ‘Karuppu’ to begin as early as 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 14. The film’s production house expressed its profound gratitude to the Chief Minister in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Our Honorable Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, we sincerely thank you for granting special permission for the 9 AM show of ‘Karuppu’.”

Meanwhile, social media has been abuzz with speculation surrounding actress Trisha Krishnan and Vijay for several weeks. Fueling these rumors was Krishnan’s presence at Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony on May 10. Fans also noted a curious coincidence: the day election results were declared and Vijay’s victory confirmed, May 4, also marked the actress’s birthday, sparking widespread discussion.

The announcement of the 9 AM show prompted a range of humorous and admiring reactions from fans. Some lightheartedly quipped that the production could have “demanded a 4 AM or 6 AM show,” while others expressed awe at Vijay’s journey, writing, “Once Vijay had to ask the government for special screening permits for his own films, and today, as Chief Minister, he grants that permission himself—what an incredible journey!”

The recently released trailer for ‘Karuppu’ has already captivated audiences. The film features Suriya in a dual role and Trisha Krishnan as a lawyer, blending elements of rural action, politics, courtroom battles, and supernatural themes. All eyes are now on ‘Karuppu’ to see if it can deliver a major comeback for Suriya, whose recent films, including ‘Retro’ and ‘Kanguva,’ have underperformed at the box office.
