LPG traders announce nationwide two-day shop closure protesting alleged harassment

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) traders across Bangladesh have announced a nationwide shutdown of all LPG retail shops for two consecutive days, slated for Thursday and Friday (October 15 and 16), in protest against ongoing harassment by authorities. The decision was officially declared on Monday at a press briefing held at the National Press Club in Dhaka by Md Selim Khan, president of the LPG Byabosayee Samabay Samity Limited.

During the press briefing, the association leaders strongly condemned the administrative pressure and unwarranted disruptions faced by traders in running their daily business operations. They warned that if their pressing demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe, the association will be compelled to enforce even stricter nationwide agitation programs following the conclusion of the two-day closure.

The impending shutdown of retail outlets threatens to disrupt household and commercial fuel supplies across the country, drawing immediate attention to the regulatory challenges within the domestic energy sector. Association representatives reiterated that the strike is a direct consequence of persistent administrative hurdles, urging relevant authorities to address their grievances promptly to avert a broader supply chain paralysis.
