Truck Crash Kills Two Brothers on Walk Home

A tragic late-night collision on the Nilphamari-Syedpur highway in Bangladesh claimed the lives of two young brothers and left another teenager critically injured when a speeding truck struck them from behind while they walked home on Tuesday.

Nineteen-year-old Shihab Hossain and his six-year-old brother, Md. Soad, died instantly at the scene in the East Shutipara Jamtoli area of Nilphamari. The third victim, ten-year-old Md. Hossain, was rushed to the 250-bed Nilphamari General Hospital with severe injuries.

All three boys, residents of West Kuchiyarmore village in Sadar Upazila, were returning home on foot from Darwani Textile Market when the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Local residents and eyewitnesses reported that a fast-moving truck, traveling from Syedpur towards Nilphamari, collided with them from behind, crushing the two brothers under its wheels.

Zillur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge of Nilphamari Sadar Police Station, confirmed the devastating accident. He stated that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the individual responsible. Following legal procedures, the bodies of the two brothers have been released to their grieving families.
