Young man dies after suspected hit-and-run following marriage proposal visit in Chattogram

A 29-year-old man died late Friday night following a motorcycle accident in the Pahartali Union of Raozan, Chittagong. The victim, identified as Apu Dash, was discovered critically injured on a road shortly after leaving a meeting to discuss his potential marriage.
Police report that Dash was found lying on the road alongside his motorcycle, suffering from severe head trauma and multiple bleeding wounds. Authorities suspect that he was struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene.
Dash, a resident of Swarnirbhar Rangunia Union in Rangunia, was the only son of the late Badal Dash. He was employed as a marketing manager at The BCCUL General Hospital in the Pahartali Chowmuhani area of Raozan.
According to family members, Dash had attended a meeting at a temple in Baguan Union on Friday evening to meet a prospective bride. Following preliminary discussions regarding the potential marriage, he departed for his home on his motorcycle at approximately 8:00 p.m. His family members were notified shortly afterward that he had been found incapacitated on the road.
Dash was initially transported to The BCCUL General Hospital, where he was employed. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:00 p.m.
Mrinal Kanti Barua, director of The BCCUL General Hospital, stated that while the exact circumstances of the accident remain unconfirmed, the evidence suggests a hit-and-run collision. He noted that the victim’s marriage plans were in the early stages and had not yet been finalized when the tragedy occurred.
Officer-in-Charge of Raozan Police Station, Md. Saiful Islam, confirmed that the body remains at Chittagong Medical College Hospital pending legal procedures. Investigators are continuing to look into the incident, though no suspect vehicle has been located at the scene.
