United States Congratulates Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Election as President of Bangladesh

The United States has extended its official congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir following his election as the President of Bangladesh. Washington expressed a keen interest in collaborating with the new president to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka issued a statement via its official social media platform on Saturday night, affirming the intent of the United States to work closely with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the government of Bangladesh to bolster their bilateral partnership.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected president on Thursday, August 20. The oath-taking ceremony for the veteran politician was held the following evening, Friday, August 21, at the Darbar Hall of the Bangabhaban. The oath of office for the nation’s highest constitutional post was administered by the Acting Speaker of the National Parliament, Kaysar Kamal.
