This reporter spoke to Shankar Chandra Das at Asadgate in the capital on Friday around 12 noon. He said that he was standing in line for oil at around 2 o’clock on Thursday. At that time there were at least 500 cars in front of him. It was 3:30 in the morning when I approached the pump to move forward in line. Then the filling station informed that the oil is over. The filling station staff could not say exactly when the oil would arrive.

By that time, Shankar had come very close to the filling station for oil. So he waited for the oil to come to the pump. Spend the night in the car without returning home. He hopes that when the oil arrives, he will get it after three to four people.

Shankar Chandra Das said, so far, 300 to 400 rupees have been spent on food while standing in the line. The employer called several times. He said with regret, ‘Herato (owner) is a big man. Everyone got out of the car. I do a poor job. Oil must be taken.

Mercas Talukdar Filling Station Cashier Md. Ershad said that 13,500 liters of octane comes to their pumps every day. Oil arrived at 5 pm yesterday too. That oil is sold out till 3:30 pm. Oil will arrive today after 5 pm.

Speaking to several other drivers at the Talukdar filling station, it was learned that they were standing in line with their vehicles for fuel yesterday afternoon. Even after waiting until noon today, he could not take the oil. 265 private cars and 105 motorcycles were seen at this pump around 12 noon. The drivers of these vehicles are waiting for oil. The line of private cars turns from Asadgate and goes behind the Parliament building to Vijay Sarani.

Around 1 a.m., queues of motorcycles were seen longer than private cars at the Sonar Bangla filling station in Asadgate. 410 motorcycles were seen standing in line waiting for oil at this pump. The row of motorcycles went to the middle of Iqbal Road via Mohammadpur Road via Asadgate.

Sayem Ahmed stands for oil in serial number 405 at this filling station. He told Prothom Alo that he was standing in line at the Sonar Bangla filling station for oil yesterday at 10:30 pm. He heard that the pump ran out of oil at half past one. He was forced to take the motorcycle and walk back to his home at Beribandh in Mohammadpur. Today afternoon again brought the motorcycle from home to pump serial with the help of a battery operated auto rickshaw.

Sayem Ahmed said, “Yesterday also I waited for 3 hours for oil at this pump. At half past midnight, the announcement came that the oil had run out. Later I thought if I can’t get octane I will take petrol. He said, there is no octane. Today I came again.

Due to the intense sun, drivers are seen waiting at various places by leaving their motorbikes on the side of the road. They are waiting for oil with fatigue and disappointment in their eyes.
