On February 28, the United States and Israel jointly attacked Iran. Iran also counterattacked. Then the war spread across the Middle East. At one point the vital Strait of Hormuz was virtually closed. As a result, along with the rise in fuel prices, the crisis became evident. Its influence has also reached Bangladesh.

In view of the global energy crisis caused by the war situation in the Middle East, on the night of April 2, the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman reduced the time limit of public and private offices by one hour. At the same time, it was decided to close shops and shopping malls (Pinanibitan) at six in the evening, which came into effect the next day. However, the deadline was later extended by one hour at the request of the shopkeepers’ association.
