Thank you message sent to Tamim from Javed Afridi
Tamim Iqbal played a crucial role in facilitating the participation of Bangladeshi cricketers in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), an initiative that has earned gratitude from Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi.
Afridi publicly thanked Iqbal, who heads the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) interim committee, for granting permission to two Bangladeshi pacers, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam, to play an additional match for Zalmi. He also expressed interest in having them back on the team in the future.
A total of six Bangladeshi cricketers featured in this edition of the PSL. Nahid Rana, representing Peshawar Zalmi, made a significant impact, taking seven wickets in four matches with an economy rate of 5.42. Shoriful Islam, also with Zalmi, claimed two wickets across five matches.
Rana, after going wicketless in his debut match, found his rhythm to take three wickets in the subsequent game and maintained consistent performances. Shoriful, while not taking a wicket in his final match, contributed to the team's efforts.
Other Bangladeshi players in the league included Mustafizur Rahman and Parvej Hossain Emon, who played for Lahore Qalandars. Tanzid Hasan Tamim did not get an opportunity to play in any matches this season.
The involvement and performances of Bangladeshi cricketers in international leagues like the PSL are expected to have a positive influence on the national team in the long term.
