The jersey was presented to Neymar by expatriate Bangladeshi Shahnoor Romen, a photojournalist who has resided in Brazil for over a decade, specializing in sports photography. Romen met Neymar during a media session at Santos’ training ground and handed over the team’s official kit.

The initiative to get the jersey to Neymar was facilitated by another expatriate sports enthusiast, as Romen has not visited his home country in a considerable time.

Neymar is understood to have some awareness of Bangladesh, particularly its passionate football fandom that gains global attention during World Cup periods. According to Romen, Neymar expressed delight upon receiving the jersey, acknowledging the vast number of supporters he and the Brazilian team command in Bangladesh.
