Bangladesh Cricket Board Considers Ticket Refunds After Abandoned Match

CHATTOGRAM – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is considering refunding tickets for spectators who attended the abandoned second Twenty20 International match between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The match, held at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, was called off due to heavy rain, leaving many fans disappointed. The BCB announced that arrangements are being made to refund individuals who purchased tickets online.

Persistent rainfall prevented any play from commencing. Officials had hoped to start the match by 4:50 PM, but the downpour continued unabated. Match referee Andy Pycroft ultimately decided to abandon the fixture 30 minutes prior to the final cut-off time, informing the captains of both teams of the decision.

The abandonment of this fixture means Bangladesh’s wait to secure the series victory has been extended. The fate of the series will now be decided in the third and final T20I, scheduled for May 2 in Dhaka. A win for Bangladesh in that match would grant them the T20 series trophy, mirroring their success in the preceding One-Day International series. A loss, however, would result in the series being drawn 1-1.
