**Cricket’s Women’s T20 World Cup Sees Record Prize Money Boost**

LONDON – The upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence in just two months, will feature a record-breaking prize fund, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced, marking the largest allocation for any women’s cricket World Cup format.

The expanded tournament, to be held in England and Wales, will feature 12 teams, an increase from the 10 that competed in the previous edition in 2024. The overall prize money has seen a 10% increase compared to the last tournament, now totaling approximately 1.08 billion Bangladeshi Taka (roughly $9.1 million USD).

The victorious team will take home over 288 million Bangladeshi Taka (approximately $2.4 million USD), while the runner-up will receive more than 144 million Bangladeshi Taka (approximately $1.2 million USD).

Even teams that do not secure a victory will benefit from the significant investment, with each participating nation guaranteed a minimum of 30.5 million Bangladeshi Taka (approximately $258,000 USD) for their involvement. This ensures that teams like Bangladesh will receive a substantial financial boost simply by qualifying for the competition.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the growing momentum in women’s cricket. “The rapid progress of women’s cricket is clearly reflected in the record number of teams and the substantial prize money for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup,” Allardice stated. “This is a strong indication of our commitment to making the sport globally more competitive.”
