Two Suspects Linked to Extremist Group Fatah Combat Jailed Following Remand
A Dhaka metropolitan court on Saturday ordered two individuals, Shah Amanat Sabir and Hossain Tanim, to be sent to jail following the conclusion of their six-day remand. The suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of maintaining ties with the extremist organization Fatah Combat.
The pair were produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Al-Biruni Mir by the investigating officer, AB Siddique of the Jatrabari Police Station, who requested that they be held in judicial custody. Sub-Inspector Masum Khan of the police prosecution department confirmed the court’s decision to grant the request after the completion of two separate three-day remand cycles.
The investigation began on July 5, when law enforcement officers apprehended Sabir and Tanim in the "Mini Cox's Bazar" area of Jatrabari. They were initially detained under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The case follows a wider crackdown on the group, with four other suspected members—Junaid, Ataullah Shah, Abidur Rahman, and Bayezid—already remanded and subsequently incarcerated on similar charges.
In a related development, authorities expanded their investigation to Jashore on July 9, where they arrested Tahsin Islam at his residence in Kismat Noapara. Following his arrest on suspicion of being an active member of the "Fatah Combat System" (FCS), he was brought before a court, which ordered him to be sent to prison pending further proceedings.
