Education Ministry Denies Plans for Universities in Every Parliamentary Constituency
The Ministry of Education has formally rejected reports circulating across various media outlets and social platforms suggesting that the government intends to establish a university in every parliamentary constituency.
In an official statement released on Monday, the ministry dismissed the claims as false, baseless, and misleading. Officials urged the public to disregard the reports and remain vigilant against the spread of inaccurate information.
The ministry clarified that the confusion stemmed from a misinterpretation of recent comments made by Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon. During a recent event, the minister observed that while members of parliament frequently submit recommendations for the establishment of high schools, colleges, and universities in their respective areas, they rarely advocate for the expansion of primary education.
Contradicting the reports of a university-building initiative, the ministry noted that the minister’s actual objective is to ensure equitable access to foundational learning. Hoque Milon emphasized during his remarks that the government remains committed to the goal of establishing a primary school in every village across the country.
