The chief guest of the program got down from the buffalo car. A farmer welcomed him by handing him a manakchu. Not by cutting a ribbon, the chief guest inaugurated the function by cutting a dried dagu paddy from a banana tree with scissors. The name of the program is exchange with farmers.
Guests then walk through an arcade. Instead of flowers, the arch is decorated with various agricultural products. It’s like a grain museum. On the right side of it, there are rows of banana trees hanging, mango, corn, brinjal, gourd and many other things. And various agricultural products are arranged on both sides. There are also seeds of various crops.

This event was organized in Patirajpur area of Iswardi upazila of Pabna on Monday. Organized by Bangladesh Farmers Association. About 800 farmers were present in the event. They presented to the guests the problems faced locally in the production and marketing of agricultural products and promised to solve them.
At around 11:30 am, the chief guest Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam arrived at the event venue in a buffalo cart from Patirajpur railway gate to Taleb Jowardar’s fish farm. Other guests included Deputy Director of Pabna District Agriculture Extension Department Jahangir Alam Patwari, Assistant Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar, Ishwardi Upazila Executive Officer Hasan Mohammad Shoaib and others.

President of Bangladesh Farmers Association Siddiqur Rahman alias Kul Mayez highlighted various problems of the farmers of Ishwardi. He said, litchi will be available in the market in another month. Three-wheelers are their only hope for transporting litchi, which is banned on highways. He demanded to give concession for the transport of litchi for at least 15 days. Besides, he demanded to check the quality of pesticides and release them in the market.
Regarding government incentives in the agricultural sector, Siddiqur Rahman said, 500 taka is given for 1 kg of mustard seeds and fertilizer. For that, the farmer has to travel around the upazila for three days. After that, no one inquires whether it happened in autumn or not. The government should change the incentives for this. Demanding crop-based special loan system for farmers, he said that the price of one kg of onion seeds is five thousand rupees. Cultivation costs another 50 thousand rupees. Then the farmer has to pay dharna for loans to various NGOs. From next week, NGO people come to the house for installments. After that, the farmer does not get the price of onion. He can no longer repay the loan.
Siddiqur Rahman demanded risk allowance for farmers. He said, farmers are bitten by snakes, no vaccine is available locally. The farmer died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. It can’t be. There should be supply of this vaccine everywhere. Highlighting the importance of creating a database of farmers, he said that 230 MPs had written their profession as agriculture. Now, starting from actors and actresses, many people write agriculture as a profession. Actually, how many people work in agriculture in Bangladesh, it is necessary to know the statistics. The nation should know who are the real farmers.
Mohammad Babul Akhtar, Principal of Gopalpur Degree College, Natore came to the event. Seeing this arrangement, he said in an impressed voice that these are true farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, the chief guest of the program, praised the creativity of the farmers after seeing the arch made of agricultural products. He said that the farmers of Ishwardi will revolutionize the country’s agriculture. He assured to solve the various problems of the farmers.
