People of Chittagong welcomed the new year with song-dance-alpana-shovajatra
People of Chittagong welcome the new year with colorful processions and cultural events. Colorful arrangements have been made at DC Hill, CRB Shirishtala and District Shilpakala Academy in the city to welcome 1433 Bangabd. The roads around the venue have been painted with Alpana.
People of different ages and classes are flocking to these places in a festive atmosphere from Tuesday morning. At 7:30 in the morning, the cultural program of Varshavaran started at the top floor of CRB with the sound of violins. After that various cultural groups performed songs and dances. Prior to this, the annual celebration was organized at the same place on Monday.
New Year celebrations have been organized at CRB on the initiative of the New Year Celebrations Council. Joint convener of the council Hasan Maruf told Prothom Alo that about 100 organizations are performing cultural performances in this event. The event will continue from 7:30 am to evening.
Bengali New Year and New Year celebrations at DC Hill in Chittagong city are a tradition of almost half a century. The attack took place on the evening of April 13 last year at the venue. There was no arrangement for that. Since 1978, 'Samilat Pahela Boishakh Udyapan Parishad' has been organizing there. This time the district administration has organized the New Year celebration at DC Hill.
The Boishakhi procession started in front of the circuit house at 8 am on the initiative of the district administration. People of various ages and classes and professions including senior officials of the administration were in the procession. The procession ends at the DC Hill premises at the Kazi Deuri junction. Then the cultural program started there from 9 am.
Chittagong District Shilpa Kala also organized the Shilpakala Academy. National Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad Chittagong has organized a day-long New Year celebration at Enayatbazar Women's College premises. Bodhan Aavritti Parishad organized a day-long Poyala Baisakh program at Andarkilla JM Sen Hall in Nagar. Apart from this, different public and private departments have also organized Paila Baisakh.
Chittagong City Police (CMP) has issued special instructions for traffic in DC Hill and CRB areas on the occasion of Paola Boishakh celebrations in the city. It will be effective from 6 am to 6 pm today. Besides, security has been strengthened in these areas. All programs have been asked to be completed before evening.
Assistant Commissioner of City Police (Media) Aminur Rashid said that adequate security measures have been taken at all important places in the city on the occasion of Payala Baisakh. Additional policemen are deployed at various venues including DC Hill, CRB, Shilpakala Academy.
