Tractor Driver Killed in Road Accident in Chittagong Mirsarai

A 22-year-old tractor driver was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a covered van on a highway in the Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram. The victim, identified as Mohammad Sakil, a resident of the Madhyam Sonapahar area in the Jorarganj Union, died instantly at the scene near Arshinagar Future Park.
According to witnesses, Sakil was transporting lighting equipment for a wedding ceremony from Baroiarhat to Jorarganj when the accident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. While traveling along the highway, the tractor suffered a mechanical failure as one of its wheels detached, causing the vehicle to overturn and throw Sakil onto the road. A passing covered van, traveling at high speed, struck him before he could recover.
Officers from the Jorarganj Highway Police station arrived shortly after the collision to recover the body. Mohammad Sharifuzzaman Bhuiyan, the officer-in-charge of the station, confirmed that the body was initially transported to the local upazila health complex. Following the completion of mandatory legal procedures, the remains were released to Sakil’s family. Authorities have since seized the damaged tractor as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident.
