The government is working to activate the labor market of various countries including Malaysia: Expatriate Welfare Minister

Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that the government is working to reactivate the labor market of various countries including Malaysia. Efforts have been made to open the Malaysian labor market which has been closed for a long time.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after the law and order committee meeting at Sylhet District Commissioner’s office on Sunday afternoon.

The minister said, ‘Why only Malaysia in the labor market, we have discussed all aspects. We are negotiating for visa extension for those who have returned. If there is a problem related to visa, we are working to extend the visa period by negotiating with different countries diplomatically. We are working on the issues every day.

Regarding the visit and discussion in Malaysia, the minister said, ‘We have signed the joint venture, it is in our favour. The meeting held was very fruitful. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has been addressed as a brother by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Earlier, in the law and order committee meeting, the minister urged the administration to take strict legal measures to stop the illegal extraction of sand and stones in different areas of Sylhet. Besides, he specifically instructed the concerned authorities to take effective steps to stop harassment of passengers at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet. Sylhet-6 Constituency Member of Parliament Emran Ahmad Chowdhury, senior officers of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, senior officers of Sylhet District Police and other branches of administration were present in the meeting chaired by Sarwar Alam.
