All the four who died in the accident were the sole earners of their respective families
A few people are running in groups on the path of the village. Some said in a tone of regret - four people died at once. They did not go out in search of work. They had never seen such a death of four people from the same village before. Four families are mourning the loss of loved ones; The atmosphere of the village has become heavy with the cries of relatives.
This scene was seen on Tuesday morning in Bhaigor village of Jotbani union of Birampur upazila of Dinajpur.
Earlier on Monday night at around 3:30 a.m., a loaded truck lost control on the Dhaka-Chittagong regional highway in Hasanpur area of Daudkandi upazila of Comilla. Seven people were killed and six were injured. Four of the deceased persons are residents of Bhaigar village of Birampur upazila. They were all agricultural labourers.
The four deceased are Abu Hossain (42), son of brave freedom fighter Mazir Uddin, Bishu Mia (45), son of Chaif Uddin, Sumon Babu (22), son of Palash Hossain and Abdur Rashid (65), son of Rafitullah Mandal. Each of them was the sole earner of their respective families.
Apart from this, the other three killed are Afzal Hossain (35), Sohrab Hossain (40) and Abu Salek (45) of Khalipur village of Dinajpur's Nawabganj upazila.
Going to Bhaigar village this morning, it can be seen that the houses of the relatives of the deceased are heavy with tears. Neighbors sit by and try to comfort. Some of the children of the deceased are sitting on the balcony and some in the courtyard crying silently. The news of the death of four people in the village on the same day, the men, women and children of the neighborhood are flocking to the houses.
Talking to the relatives, it is known that now Boro paddy is grown in the cropland of Bhaigar village. Many agricultural laborers were spending idle time as there was not much work in the field. In search of additional income and livelihood, the four often went to the surrounding area in search of work. Yesterday they left to harvest paddy in Comilla.
Abu Hossain's wife Shireen Akhter came to know about his death by calling his mobile phone this morning. She said her husband was the sole breadwinner of the family. Don't know how to live with two children now.
Bishu Mia's elder son Rafiatullah (15) is a class 10 student of a local school. Rafiatullah said, "Yesterday morning when my father left the house, he said to me, 'Study well, father.' Show your mother and sisters. Father left us completely today.
Dinajpur Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Riaz Uddin said seven people from Birampur and Nawabganj upazilas were killed in a road accident in Daudkandi. Talked with Daudkandi upazila executive officer about this. Arrangements are being made to bring the dead bodies home. The district administration will also provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased.
