Five-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Narail; Manhunt Launched for Suspect

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in the Narail Sadar upazila of Bangladesh on Monday, sparking a massive manhunt for the suspect. Local police identified the primary suspect as 30-year-old Rabiul Sikdar, a mason who lived in the same village as the victim.

The incident occurred late Monday afternoon when the child was playing near her home. According to family members, the girl disappeared shortly after the suspect allegedly called her over. When the family failed to locate the child, they initiated a search of the immediate area. By early evening, they discovered the girl’s body concealed under a quilt on the floor of the suspect’s home. The suspect was nowhere to be found.

The child was rushed to the Narail District Hospital, where doctors confirmed she was already dead upon arrival. Dr. Asif Akbar of the hospital’s emergency department noted that there were visible signs of injury on the victim’s body. While the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, officials have not yet confirmed the results of forensic evidence regarding the rape allegations.

Family members of the victim, including her uncle Mujibur Rahman, alleged that the suspect lured the child into his home, committed the assault, and subsequently fled the scene after hiding the body. According to the family, the suspect, who lived alone in the residence, remains at large.

Authorities have launched an urgent investigation to apprehend the suspect. Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Rakibul Hasan, who oversees crimes and operations, described the incident as a brutal act. He confirmed that police have identified the suspect and have deployed multiple teams across the district to ensure his immediate arrest.
