Three Arrested After Violent Clash Erupts Outside Titas Police Station
A property dispute between two brothers escalated into a violent confrontation directly in front of the Titas Police Station in Cumilla on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in two injuries and multiple arrests.
The altercation involved brothers Shah Alam and Kamal Hossain, who have been embroiled in a long-standing disagreement over home construction in Nagerchar village. Despite previous attempts by local leaders to mediate the feud, tensions boiled over Wednesday morning, prompting both parties to travel to the Titas police station to file formal complaints.
According to police, the violence erupted when one faction was intercepted by their rivals while leaving the station entrance. A 2-minute and 23-second video of the incident, which has since circulated widely on social media, shows a group of individuals attacking their opponents with bricks and physical force.
The ensuing melee left Shah Alam, 45, and his relative, Rubel Mia, 28, with injuries. Officers on duty intervened to restore order and apprehended three suspects at the scene: Sagar, 23, and Abu Taher, 26, both sons of Kamal Hossain, as well as their brother-in-law, Fahim, 25.
Titas Police Station Officer-in-Charge Momirul Haque confirmed that a case was filed Wednesday night by Shah Alam following the assault. The three suspects remained in custody Thursday morning, with authorities preparing to transfer them to the Cumilla District Jail to face court proceedings.
