Rally in front of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan on Friday to demand justice for Tukki’s murder

The Anti-Terrorism Tukki Manch will hold a “Tukki rally” at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Friday to demand justice for the murder of talented student Tanveer Muhammad Tukki of Narayanganj. This information was informed in a press release signed by Halim Azad, member secretary of Terrorism Elimination Tukki Manch, on Sunday afternoon.

Protest speeches, poetry, songs, plays, paintings and performing arts will be presented in the assembly. Prominent persons, poets, artists of the country will be present in it.

According to the press release, 13 years of brutal killings and impunity have passed two months ago. During this long period, 11 and a half years were the rule of Sheikh Hasina, one and a half years of interim government and now the rule of BNP is going on. Even if the government changes after the government, there is no justice. The trial does not begin with the submission of the charge sheet to the court. The Tukki killing is a symbolic naked-example of the judicial system in the country. Even if the government changes, the character of lawlessness in the country does not change.

On March 6, 2013, Tanveer Muhammad Takki went missing after leaving her home on Shaista Khan Road in the city. Two days later, on March 8, the police recovered the body of Taki from the Kumudini canal of Shitalakshya river. On November 12 of that year, Ajmeri Osman’s associate Sultan Shaukat Bhramar and later Kajal Howladar gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court. They said that under the leadership of Ajmeri Osman, Tukki was kidnapped and killed. On March 5, 2014, the investigating agency RAB held a press conference and said that 11 people killed Tukki in their torture cell on the instructions of the Osman family of Narayanganj. Soon they will submit the charge sheet to the court. But that charge sheet has not been submitted till date.

Since the murder of Tukki, the Narayanganj Cultural Alliance and the Anti-Terrorist Tukki Manch have been holding various programs including lighting candles on the 8th of every month to demand the start of trial and the arrest of the identified accused.
