Police recover body of High Court employee from Supreme Court building
Police recovered the body of a High Court employee from the Supreme Court’s Bijoy-71 building on Monday, finding him suspended from a grille near a restroom on the structure's eighth floor. The deceased, identified as Mohammad Kamal Uddin, had been serving as a jamadar (attendant) for a justice at the High Court division.
According to Supreme Court administrative sources, Uddin was scheduled for a transfer to a different branch within the High Court division on the same day his body was discovered. The circumstances surrounding his death have prompted an investigation by local law enforcement and the Criminal Investigation Department.
Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddique confirmed the discovery, noting that authorities were alerted after the body was first spotted by an individual on the eighth floor. Following the report, police and forensic teams arrived to secure the scene. The body was transported for an autopsy by mid-afternoon, and officials expect the filing of an unnatural death case as the investigation proceeds.
Following the discovery, acting Chief Justice Rezaul Haque of the Appellate Division, alongside various Supreme Court registry officials, visited the site to assess the situation. Born on December 30, 1979, the victim was a native of Mymensingh. Further administrative and legal actions remain pending based on the outcome of the ongoing police inquiry.
