From Kisan to Kaktadua, the colorful procession of students from Brahmanbaria is a reflection of rural Bengal.
Some are farmers, some are fishermen, some are potters. Some form of communal harmony, some the atmosphere of rural life. Rakhal, Ghatak, Baryatri, Halkhata, Baul, Bede, Kakatarua, Kamar, Tant, Jarigan and Lathikhela dress - all in all it is like a part of Bangladesh. In these diverse costumes, teachers and students have highlighted the lost and known traditions of rural Bengal.
This is the scene of Brahmanbaria Government College Boishakhi procession. To welcome Bengali New Year 1433, teachers and students of 17 undergraduate departments of the college participated in this colorful event on Tuesday morning.
The procession was taken out from the college premises around 10 am today. After rounding Collegepara, Zilla Parishad Market, Kalibari Mor, TA Road, Ghorapatti Setu, Mather Goka, Old Kachari Pukurpar, Hospital Road and Kumarsheel Mor, back to the college premises.
According to the college sources, the students of 17 departments running at graduation stage participated in 17 different rural traditional costumes. The students of Bengali Department are Kisan-Kishani, English Department Fisherman, History Department Potter, Islamic History and Culture Department Rural Life, Philosophy Department Shepherd, Political Science Department Baryatri, Sociology Department Communal Harmony, Islamic Education Department Ghatak, Economics Department Halkhata, Accountancy Department Baul, Management Department Bede, Physics Department Kaktaduwa and Blacksmith, Chemistry Department Tant, Botany Department Jarigan and Mathematics Department Lathi Players. Dressed up.
Students spontaneously participated in the procession sitting and standing in vans. Various aspects of rural culture of Bangladesh emerge in their colorful and diverse presentation.
Ashiqur Rahman, a first year student of English literature, said, "We are a Bengali nation. Our heritage carries our identity. The traditions of Bengal are farmers, fishermen, Halkhata, grooms, brides, communal harmony—all these. We have shown Bangladesh in our clothes.
Brahmanbaria Government College Branch Chhatra Dal President Jimmy Hriday said, 'The event is completely exceptional. We have tried to keep almost all the traditions of Bangladesh in the procession and brought it out.
Habibur Rahman, a resident of Kandipara in the district city, said, "The lost tradition is bringing the bride and groom in a palanquin - I saw the scene after many days."
Prof. Mosharraf Hossain, convenor of the annual event, said that 17 departments were encouraged to participate in 17 traditional costumes. Students presented it very efficiently.
College Principal Professor A Z M Arif Hossain said that the teachers-students have presented our traditions very aesthetically, "The spontaneous participation and colorful presentation of everyone is really admirable. Every year we try to organize such an exceptional event.
