Police arrest three banned Chhatra League members in Dhaka for attempted rally
Dhanmondi police arrested three members of the banned student organization Chhatra League on Sunday morning as they attempted to organize a protest march near the 32nd Street bridge in the capital.
Authorities identified the suspects as 23-year-old Md. Mainul Hasan, 31-year-old Ibrahim Khalil, and 29-year-old Sorhab Hossain. According to police reports, all three individuals hail from Chandpur district and had traveled to Dhaka specifically to participate in the demonstration.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of the Dhanmondi Police Station, stated that the men were taken into custody after law enforcement identified them gathering at the site. Investigations revealed that the suspects had coordinated the protest via social media messaging platforms before converging on the Dhanmondi area. The detainees are currently being held for further questioning.
