Police Link Fatal Mirpur Shooting to Internal Juba Dal Power Struggle
Dhaka Metropolitan Police have identified internal factionalism within the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organizations as the primary motive behind the murder of Jubo Dal activist Yusuf Ali Parvez in the capital’s Mirpur area.
Investigators report that the targeted victim of the attack was actually Hafezul Islam Babu, the member secretary of the Kafrul police station unit of Jubo Dal. Authorities allege that a professional hit squad of four individuals was recruited from Jhenaidah specifically to carry out the assassination. One of the suspects, identified as Chanchal Mollah, has been taken into custody.
Police believe the violence is rooted in protracted political infighting and a struggle for regional dominance. The escalation is further linked to ongoing tensions surrounding the selection of candidates for the upcoming city corporation elections, as factions within the organization maneuver to secure political influence.
