New Book Chronicles First Light Journalism and West Bengal Election Dynamics

A new book exploring the intersection of journalism and regional politics, titled “Salute Prothom Alo Tomay and West Bengal Assembly Election 2026,” was officially unveiled on Saturday in the Bangladeshi capital. Authored by Amar Saha, a Kolkata-based correspondent for the newspaper Prothom Alo, the work was published by the Dhaka-based publishing house Amar Prokashoni.

The launch event took place at the offices of Amar Prokashoni in Purana Paltan. During the ceremony, noted theater personality Shanker Sawjal presided over the unveiling, while political analyst Hasan Abdullah chaired the discussion.

The gathering drew a diverse audience of academics, legal professionals, and media figures. Among the attendees were World Bank consultant Md. Abdul Kuddus, Dhaka Ideal Cadet School Principal M.A. Mannan, poet Md. Rafiqul Islam, Supreme Court lawyer Md. Safiur Rahman, BNP leader Abul Kalam Azad, Mirpur Press Club President Golam Kader, and journalist Paritosh Debnath. The author, Amar Saha, was also present to discuss the insights contained within the text.

During the proceedings, M.A. Mannan praised the publication, describing the book as a vivid reflection of the fearless and uncompromising journalism practiced by Prothom Alo.
