Demonstration rally in DU over symbolic bodies of children
The student organization Biplabli Chhatra Maitri held a demonstration with the symbolic corpses of children demanding justice for former interim government chief advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus and health advisor Noorjahan Begum for the death of more than three hundred children in measles. At the same time, they declared measles as an 'epidemic' and demanded total prevention.
This demand was made by the organization from a protest rally organized at the foot of anti-terrorism Raju sculpture of Dhaka University on Wednesday afternoon.
The leaders and activists present at the rally accused the previous administration of failing to control the outbreak of measles. Mentioning the responsibility of the then head of government and the health advisor for the loss of lives of a large number of children, they demanded their trial.
In the rally, the central president of Revolutionary Students' Alliance, Dilip Roy, said, "The people have brought down a fascist government like Awami League for the future through a mass uprising; And that future is our children. But this crisis of measles is not natural, it is man-made.
Dilip Roy also said that various issues are discussed in Parliament, but no one talks about important issues like the US agreement or measles. Neither Jamaat nor BNP is taking a clear stand on these issues. They are silent together.
At that time, he said to the Tawhidi people, they will never talk about the outbreak of measles, the death of children. Although they raise slogans against Delhi outside, they are leaning towards Washington in their hearts.
Jabir Ahmed Jubel, general secretary of revolutionary student alliance, said in the rally, "The interim government has pushed children to die for their own profit." They need to be severely punished for this crime.
Jabir Ahmed Jubel also said that measles outbreak has occurred in 58 out of 64 districts of the country. Addressing the government, he said, declaring measles as an epidemic, it should be completely prevented.
Jabir Ahmed also said, 'I have not seen this outbreak of measles and any effective measures against it even during the previous interim government, and I am not seeing it during the current government either. Rather, it seems as if they are waiting, how many hundreds of lives will be lost, how many children's lives will be destroyed.
Apart from this, he criticized the DACSU leaders for objecting to the establishment of a temporary medical camp for measles in the central playground of Dhaka University.
Finance Secretary of Central Committee of Biplabli Chhatra Maitri and former president of Dhaka University Branch Nuzia Hasan Rasha said that the present government should take necessary measures to prevent this epidemic without delay. Besides, those responsible for this in the former interim government should be investigated and prosecuted.
Nuzia Hasan also said, "Muhammad Yunus, former interim government's health advisor and chief advisor, should be brought to justice. In the name of reform, Muhammad Yunus simply waived his debts and left as a university.'
Addressing the government and the opposition party, he said, 'Our children are dying, the future of the country is on fire. But the government and the opposition parties are not budging on it. I would like to know from the current Prime Minister, which card will you give to the father who has to run to Mahakhali with the dead body of his child? Will you give him a consolation card in the coming days?'
