Measles Outbreak Claims Four More Children in Dhaka as Infections Surge Nationwide

Four more children have died in Dhaka over the past 24 hours due to measles and its complications, as the national health crisis continues to escalate. According to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), one of the deceased was a confirmed measles case, while three others exhibited symptoms associated with the highly contagious viral disease.
The latest figures highlight a surge in infections, with 972 children across the country identified with measles symptoms and 64 confirmed cases reported within the last day, bringing the total number of new infections to 1,036.

Since the outbreak began on March 15, the national death toll has reached 656, with 93 of those deaths officially confirmed as measles and 563 others resulting from clinical symptoms of the disease.
Data from the DGHS indicates that 86,923 children have shown symptoms of the virus over the past several months. Of those affected, 71,467 have required hospital admission, with 67,878 patients successfully recovering and returning home.

As of Monday morning, health officials noted that 888 patients were admitted to hospitals for measles treatment in the previous 24-hour period, while 1,037 individuals were discharged following their recovery.
