International Crimes Tribunal Judges to Inspect DGFI and RAB Detention Cells Known as Ayna-Ghor
Judges of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 have ordered an official inspection of the detention centers operated by the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Dhaka’s Uttara district. The site, widely referred to as "Aynaghar" or the "House of Mirrors," is central to ongoing proceedings regarding allegations of enforced disappearances.
The directive was issued on Tuesday by the three-member tribunal, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mozumder, alongside judges Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury. The order follows a formal petition filed by Chief Prosecutor Md. Aminul Islam.
According to the Chief Prosecutor, the inspection will focus specifically on the DGFI’s Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC) and the RAB’s Task Force for Interrogation (TFI) cell. The judicial panel is expected to be accompanied by members of the prosecution, defense counsel, and other relevant personnel during the site visit.
The tribunal is currently presiding over cases involving former and serving military officers accused of orchestrating enforced disappearances within these specialized detention facilities.
