Fire extinguished at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport waste site
A fire broke out Saturday night in a pile of refuse near Gate 8 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the blaze was reported at 9:20 p.m. Two units from the airport’s fire station arrived on the scene within three minutes to commence firefighting operations.
Fire service media officer Md. Anwarul Islam confirmed that the flames were brought under control shortly after crews arrived. Firefighters fully extinguished the blaze by 10:20 p.m. There were no reports of injuries or casualties resulting from the incident.
