Prime Minister inaugurated the distribution of farmer cards in Tangail
Prime Minister Tariq Rahman inaugurated the distribution of farmer cards. He handed over farmer cards and tree seedlings to 15 local farmers while inaugurating this program at Shaheed Maruf Stadium in Tangail on Tuesday around 12:30 PM.
In the first phase, this card is being distributed among about 21 thousand landless, marginal and small farmers in 11 upazilas of 10 districts across the country.
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin ur Rashid is presiding over the event, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin (Tuku) is the special guest. After inaugurating the distribution of farmer cards at Shahid Maruf Stadium, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Agricultural Fair at Shahid Smriti Municipal Park in the city.
This is Tariq Rahman's first visit to Tangail after becoming Prime Minister. Therefore, party leaders-workers and common people are in a festive mood.
Farmers, fish farmers and dairy farmers will get a total of 10 special benefits including cash incentives, agricultural inputs at fair prices, irrigation facilities, loans on easy terms, agricultural insurance through the Krishi Card.
The main objective of this initiative is to recognize farmers as professionals, increase income and ensure transparency in subsidy distribution. The government has set a target of giving this card to 1 crore 65 lakh farmers in the next four years. The estimated cost of this program is Tk 681 crore.
On Monday, Agriculture Minister Amin ur Rashid visited the opening venue of the distribution of agricultural cards at Shahid Maruf Stadium and told reporters that the pre-piloting of distribution of agricultural cards will be started at 11 points across the country including Tangail. Then there will be piloting. After this, cards will be issued on a large scale. The agriculture minister expects to complete the distribution of farmer cards throughout Bangladesh within the next four years.
