Inmate Escapes From Kashimpur Women Central Jail

Authorities have launched an intensive manhunt after a female inmate escaped from the Kashimpur Central Women’s Prison in Gazipur, prompting a formal police investigation. The prisoner, 21-year-old Mosammat Rimpa, was reported missing on Thursday evening, triggering an immediate and thorough search of the facility by prison officials.

Despite extensive efforts by the authorities to locate her within the prison complex, Rimpa remained at large as of Saturday morning. The escape was discovered at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, leading prison management to alert local law enforcement.

In response to the security breach, prison officials filed a formal case with the Konabari Police Station on Friday afternoon. According to the investigation, the prisoner is a resident of the Raipur area in the Gangni sub-district of Meherpur and had been serving a three-month sentence imposed by a mobile court in Dhaka.

Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the filing of the case and stated that police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the fugitive. Kashimpur Central Women’s Prison Jail Superintendent Shirin Akter declined to provide further details, noting that prison authorities are currently prioritizing the ongoing investigation.
