Govt implemented 60 measures in two months: Mahdi Amin

The current government has ensured a memorable achievement by implementing 60 significant steps in the last two months after taking over the governance of the state. Mahdi Amin, adviser to Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s office, said this in a press conference organized at the Prime Minister’s office on Saturday afternoon.

Mahdi Amin said that the democratic government elected by the people’s vote under the leadership of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has completed the last two months. The Prime Minister has given strong and courageous leadership in moving the nation forward on the path of establishing the rights of the masses, overcoming the blood-bathed chapter of the fascist rule of the last one and a half decades.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s office said that his (Tareek Rahman) homecoming after a long exile is a historic event not only for Bangladesh but also for world politics. The absolute victory achieved in the last February 12 election has been praised by local and foreign media and observers as a reflection of the revival of democracy and the aspirations of the people.

Mahdi Amin said that the government is committed to presenting the Prime Minister’s action plan and state management principles to the public through a transparent and consistent process. He said, ‘Ministers, State Ministers and Advisors of each ministry will give speeches about their respective departments. Our main aim is to properly represent the relentless efforts of the Prime Minister.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said that the relevant persons of the government will play an effective role against misinformation by making informed statements. The government also expects that the opposition parties will come forward with constructive cooperation by avoiding the way of spreading ruckus and rumours.

Mahdi Amin said that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has been included in the list of the world’s 100 most influential people in the world by “Time” this year. This recognition is a global acknowledgment of the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and outstanding contribution to the restoration of democracy.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said that the government is moving at a breakneck pace to implement the promises made in the manifesto. The government has adopted a 180-day action plan to ensure the progress of every citizen.

Mahdi Amin said that with the aim of empowering women, 37 thousand 567 families are being given monthly cash assistance of 2 thousand 500 taka in the pilot project of delivering ‘Family Card’ to every family in the country. He said, the process of giving honor to Imams, priests, principals and priests of various religious institutions of the country has started.

Mentioning that 20,000 kilometers of canals and canals have been dug and re-dugned across the country, the advisor to the Prime Minister said that 10 benefits have been ensured for the farmers and agriculturists of the country through the ‘Krishak Card’. Initially 22 thousand farmers of 10 districts have been brought under this. Apart from this, about 12 lakh small and marginal farmers have been waived off their loans up to Tk 10,000 with interest.

Mahdi Amin said that 133 ordinances have been settled in the first session of the Thirteenth Parliament in a short time to protect the continuity of the constitutional and legal framework. 16 ordinances including Human Rights Commission and Prevention of Disappearance Ordinance will be presented in the form of bills in Parliament after further scrutiny.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said that although the price of fuel oil has increased around the world, the government has kept the price of fuel oil under control with subsidies and special diplomatic activities. He said that 35 MW of solar power has been added to the national grid. A target of 10,000 megawatts of electricity production has been set by 2030.

Mahdi Amin said that the government has taken effective measures at all times including the holy month of Ramadan to control the price of goods and continued to import food products.

Adviser to the Prime Minister said that an initiative has been taken to launch the ‘Expatriate Card’ for expatriates. In addition to re-opening the Malaysian labor market, initiatives have been taken to sign bilateral agreements with seven European countries to find new labor markets. He also said that the cost of Hajj has been reduced by Tk 12,000 per ticket.

Mahdi Amin said that a five-year strategic framework is being formulated with the aim of transforming the economy into a trillion (one lakh crore) dollar by 2034 and the obligation of central bank pre-approval for repatriation of investments up to Tk 100 crore has been waived to facilitate foreign investment.

Regarding the government’s initiatives in the field of education, the spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office said that an unsecured bank guarantee of up to 10 lakh taka has been arranged for higher education abroad. He said that 6 months, 1 year and 5 years work plan has been formulated to fill government vacancies. Recruitment of 100,000 health workers has been announced to ensure primary health care.

Highlighting the government’s initiative in promoting sports and planting trees, Mahdi Amin said that the recruitment of sports teachers has started in every upazila. 25 crore tree plantation program has been undertaken in five years.

The Prime Minister’s adviser on reducing state expenditure said the Prime Minister is staying at her residence instead of using the Rashtriya Bhavan Yamuna, has restricted VVIP protocol and implemented the historic decision of ministers not taking duty-free cars and government plots.

Mahdi Amin also said that initiatives have been taken to strengthen Padma barrage project, cleaning campaign to prevent dengue, law amendment to prevent river encroachment and pollution and asset identification and legal assistance to bring back money smuggled abroad.

The spokesperson at the Prime Minister’s Office said that the Prime Minister has restored the confidence of the people of the country and is working to build a prosperous Bangladesh by implementing the promises of the manifesto.
