BGB Blocks BSF Attempts to Push 13 Individuals Across Border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully thwarted two separate attempts by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push individuals across the border into Bangladesh. The incidents occurred along the frontiers in Jhenaidah’s Maheshpur and Chapainawabganj’s Gomostapur, according to official statements released by the BGB on Saturday.
In the Maheshpur sector, BSF personnel reportedly attempted to force four men and two women into Bangladeshi territory during the early hours of Saturday near the Samanta border. BGB patrols stationed at the Samanta border outpost intercepted the movement and effectively blocked the attempt. According to BGB officials, the six individuals remain stationed approximately 20 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line, and the matter has been formally communicated to the BSF. Assistant Director Munshi Imdadur Rahman of the 58 BGB Maheshpur Battalion emphasized that the force remains in a state of high alert to ensure border integrity and prevent illegal infiltration.
A similar incident took place on Friday in the Charaldanga border area of Gomostapur, Chapainawabganj. BGB reported that members of the 12 BSF battalion’s Tilasan camp attempted to push seven men across the border at approximately 6:30 a.m. Following immediate intervention by BGB personnel from the Charaldanga border outpost, the BSF abandoned the attempt and escorted the group back into Indian territory. Surveillance efforts in the area have since confirmed that no individuals associated with the group remain within 150 yards of the border on the Indian side.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam, commander of the 16 BGB Naogaon Battalion, stated that security measures and round-the-clock surveillance have been intensified across the Naogaon and Chapainawabganj border regions to deter unauthorized crossings and illegal entries.
