Former Madrasa Teacher Sparks Outrage After Posting Video of Abuse Against Child Student

A former madrasa teacher in Lakshmipur, Bangladesh, is facing widespread public condemnation after posting a video on social media showing him physically abusing a young student. The footage, which circulated widely on July 16, depicts the teacher, Imran Hossain, repeatedly forcing a cane into the mouth of a crying child while mocking the student’s distress. The teacher originally captioned the post with the statement, “I enjoy making little children cry.”
The incident occurred at a madrasa in the North Char Ababil Union of Raipur upazila. According to the institution’s founding president, Md. Monjur Ahmed, Hossain was dismissed from his teaching position approximately two months ago due to behavioral concerns. Authorities believe the footage was captured during his tenure, and that he began releasing a series of previously recorded videos following his termination.

Ahmed noted that the school administration had previously warned Hossain multiple times regarding his unprofessional conduct, which included punishing students without cause and filming them for social media without authorization. Hossain, who was reportedly active on TikTok, displayed inconsistent behavior that ultimately led to his removal from the staff.
Following the backlash, the accused teacher deleted the original post and his social media account. On Saturday, he released a follow-up video apology, claiming that he was merely attempting to play with the child and had no intention of inflicting harm. In the statement, he characterized his actions as a misguided attempt to stop the student from crying during an examination and expressed regret for the negative public reaction.

Local law enforcement has launched an inquiry into the matter. Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed that authorities are aware of the footage and have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the abuse. Because the madrasa is currently closed and the former teacher is no longer residing in the area, police have advised the victim’s family to pursue formal legal action to hold the individual accountable.
